Balcarras School Donate

27 November 2012

Balcarras School have donated £200 to the Community Programme in support of the Rob Cruse Cup.

Robins skipper Alan Bennett popped into Balcarras School earlier today to receive a cheque donated to the Community Programme.

Ottewell house at Balcarras School in Cheltenham have donated £200 to the Community Programme in aid of the Rob Cruse Cup which is held annually and gives schools a chance to compete against eachother for a possible final opportunity at Wembley Stadium. The trophy, sponsored by npower, is named after former Balcarras pupil and Community staff member Rob Cruse who sadly passed away four years ago after being involved in a car crash.

Rob's family run fundraising events in aid of the competition and Alan Bennett, who is the club Sports Participant Ambassador, was on hand to receive the donation earlier this afternoon before answering some tough questions from students.

"Our thanks go to Balcarras for this really kind donation," said community development officer, Olly Roberts.

"Their donation will ensure we can provide the childen involved in this competition with medals, trophies and the opportunity to take part in the sport they love. We have had teams get through the semi-finals before but never through to the national final at Wembley so we are hoping this is the year.

"I know how great Balcarras are in the community and Alan enjoyed getting a grilling from the pupils too!"

The Rob Cruse Cup takes place this Thursday so good luck to all those teams involved!
