Yates: We're Prepared

27 April 2013

Mark Yates is ready and prepared to face Northampton Town over over two-legs in the npower League Two play-off semi-final.

Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates talking to the media following this afternoon's goalless draw against Bradford:

"Congratulations to Rotherham for securing their automatic promotion to league one. We've now got to go and get there with them. The league doesn't lie after 46 games. We're right up there with the best, unfortunately we haven't managed to get where we wanted today. We can be a little bit disappointed today in terms of, this morning we woke up wanting to get that third spot, It hasn't happened for us but I'll tell the players when they leave this evening it's back to work. We'll go again, it's our jobs."

The result means the Robins will face two-legs against Northampton Town in the npower League Two play-off semi-final.

"We're looking forward to the play-off's now, we've got Northampton away and then at home. They're two really tough games. We know what's coming and we're prepared for it. We've talked about nothing else but making sure our focus was on today's game, it hasn't happened for us but we've planned, we know what we're doing. We're on a great run here, we've got some terrific players out there and it just wasn't our day today. I think Marlon summed it up by hitting the post but it really wouldn't have mattered anyway. To be honest, I think Bradford are a really, really, really good side.

"Northampton have got some really good players and a top manager, so come tomorrow we'll start preparing for them.

"I thought we were really good first half, we didn't get the goal. There were a couple of great balls in from Billy for a couple of great chances. I think if we'd have gone in 1-0 up, I didn't really see them scoring. But we didn't, we're in the play-off's and it's a great achievement for the players on the back of the disappointment of last year. We'll have to use that in a positive manner, we'll have to make sure we're as good as we can be on Thursday and then as good as we can be on the following Sunday. That's our soul aim.

"I'm confident my group of players will be mentally ready for Thursday night, we'll know exactly what we're doing, the plan will come into action straight away. We've got a couple of days to get our legs back and do what we've got to do to make sure come Thursday we are fit, ready and able against a really strong, physical Northampton side.
Read the report here."
