Oxford Rewind

2 September 2014

Look back on our previous encounter with Oxford away at the Kassam Stadium.

The Robins welcome Michael Appleton's Oxford United to Whaddon Road this evening for Johnstone's Paint Trophy action.

Cheltenham will of course be looking to maintain their winning habit whilst Oxford United will be desperate to grab a win in an otherwise unspectacular start to their 2014-15 campaign. The winner of course will book their place in the second round of this competition.

Our last encounter with Oxford was at the Kassam Stadium and our opponents were under the stewardship of Chris Wilder - now the Northampton Town boss.

Oxford took the lead in that fixture through a 78th minute goal from Ryan Williams. The Oxford forward rode a few challenges inside the area before dispatching a shot beyond Scott Brown for what was probably a deserved lead. It was however not going to be the last goal of the night and the ever-youthful Jamie Cureton pulled a rabbit out the hat. Zack Kotwica's shot from wide took a wicked deflection off the body of Cureton and the Oxford goalkeeper could only watch on as the ball looped into the back of the net.
