League Two Round-Up, 4.6.14

We take a look at the latest news around the grounds in Sky Bet League Two.

Accrington Stanley
Young striker James Jenkins has been offered a first professional contract by Stanley boss James Beattie this week. Jenkins was an unused substitute on a number of occasions last year and he described his pro contract offer as "every kid's dream.". The youngster looks set to sign that contract on the 1st July and joins both Liam Goulding and Luke Greaves in being offered contracts.
Accrington have also confirmed a summer pre-season match versus Premier League newboys Burnley.

AFC Wimbledon
Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley is waiting on news regarding a possible transfer of Dulwich Hamlet playmaker Erhun Oztumer, reports getwestlondon.co.uk. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is also reportedly being chased by Gillingham and Luton Town but the player in question is currently on holiday in Mexico.

Burton Albion
Brewers defender Phil Edwards has told the Burton Mail that he was 'delighted' to have signed a new one year deal with the club. Edwards and his team-mates missed out on promotion in the play-off final but he told the newspaper that he was hoping to take it one step further next season. Edwards follows in the footsteps of Lee Bell, Dean Lyness and Dominic Knowles who have all signed new deals at the Pirelli Stadium.

Bury
The Shakers have wasted no time in securing signings ahead of the new season with Chris Hussey joining the club following his departure from Northampton Town. Bury have also signed Nicky Adams (Rotherham), Danny Mayor (Sheffield Wednesday) and Ryan Lowe (Tranmere Rovers). 

Cambridge United
Released Cambridge defender Blaine Hudson has paid tribute to his former employers in the Cambridge News this week. The 22-year-old spent six years with Cambridge before departing the promoted club for Wrexham and believes he is the footballer he is today due to Cambridge United.
The U's have also announced a pre-season friendly v. MK Dons this week.

Carlisle United
Cumbrians boss Graham Kavanagh told Carlisle's official website this week that James Berrett and Paul Thirlwell have until Friday to reply to contract offers handed to them by the club. Kavanagh also hinted that he was looking 'freshen things up' after suffering relegation from League One. Outgoing Carlisle midfielder Liam Noble has also been snapped up by Notts County.

Dagenham & Redbridge
Former Charlton Athletic striker Bradley Goldberg has penned a new one year contract with the Daggers after scoring 23 goals in 44 appearances whilst on loan with Bromley in the Conference South last season. He has yet to make his senior debut for Dagenham & Redbridge.

Exeter City
Grecians Director of Football Steve Perryman has told BBC Sport that the club has gone to the Professional Football Association for loans before in the past. His interview came after Exeter secure a loan on Tuesday due to cash-flow issues caused by lower than anticipated season ticket sales.
In other news, young midfielder Matt Grimes has told Exeter's official website that he was already looking forward to the new campaign after picking up the club's player of the year award.

Hartlepool United
Pools boss Colin Cooper has told the Hartlepool official website that he will work non-stop to build a squad capable of challenging in League Two next season. He revealed that he wanted a dressing room full of winners keen on doing well for themselves and Hartlepool.
Hartlepool have also confirmed that they would host Sunderland in a pre-season match in July.

Luton Town
The Bedfordshire News are reporting that Luton Town could be set to confirm the signing of Welling United striker Ross Lafayette. Welling themselves confirmed the striker had performed a u-turn on his new contract with the club and that they expected him to join Luton.
Club captain Ronnie Henry will depart Kenilworth Road after rejecting a contract offer from John Still.

Mansfield Town
Mansfield have today confirmed the signing of former Oxford striker Alex Fisher from Italian Serie C club AC Monza. The 23-year-old told Mansfield's website that it had been his ambition to return to England following spells in Italy and Belgium.
Winger Colin Daniel has left Mansfield to join Port Vale on a two-year contract.

Morecambe
Shrimps boss Jim Bentley has told The Visitor that he is no rush to replacing outgoing defender Robbie Threlfall but did admit he had spoken to a number of players. Bentley, who is currently working towards his UEFA 'A' license also revealed that talks were ongoing with defender Chris Doyle.

Newport County
Justin Edinburgh has admitted that a deal to take Wales defender Darcy Blake back next season is now 'dead in the water'. Newport have been boosted by the news however that Republic of Ireland Under-21 defender Kevin Feely has joined the club following his release from Charlton Athletic.

Northampton Town
Northampton striker David Moyo has signed a new one-year deal with the Cobblers this week after making 13 appearances last season.
The Northampton Chronicle are also reporting that Chris Wilder will not be making an approach for out of contract striker Adebayo AKinfenwa.

Oxford United
Oxford are to rename their Young Player of the Year award in honour of the late Jack Casley who passed away at the weekend. Casley was Oxford's first professional footballer. 

Plymouth Argyle
The Pilgrims have agreed new contracts with left back Ben Purrington and midfielder Nathan Thomas this week. The new follows that of new deals for Paul Wotton, Matt Lecointe and Curtis Nelson.
The Plymouth Herald are also reporting that an agreement is close between Plymouth and Reuben Reid on a new contract.

Portsmouth
The News are reporting that Portsmouth are ready to snap up former Crawley Town goalkeeper Paul Jones on contract following his departure from the League One side.

Shrewsbury Town
The Shrews have secured the services of left back Mickey Demetriou (Kidderminster) and striker James Collins (Hibernian). Their arrival follows the exits of defender Tamika Mkandawire and midfielders Dave Winfield and Jon Taylor.

Southend United
Phil Brown is still in talks with the Roots Hall club about extending his contract beyond 2015. Southend have also confirmed a home pre-season friendly versus Ipswich in July.

Stevenage Borough
Relegated Stevenage confirmed this week that winger Lucas Akins was to be placed on the transfer list after making 86 appearances and scoring 14 goals in a two year spell for the club.

Tranmere Rovers
Rovers midfielder Jake Kirby has his sights set on more goals after signing a new two-year contract with the relegated club. Former Exeter midfielder Matt Gill has also signed a one-year contract with the Prenton Park outfit as a player/coach.

Wycombe Wanderers
Chairboys midfielder Matt Bloomfield has committed himself to a 13th year at Adams Park by signing a new two-year contract. Wycombe have also confirmed the appointment of new director Andrew Howard to the board this week.

York City
The Minstermen have completed the signing of Barnet striker Jake Hyde this week on a three-year deal. He is the third player to join the League Two side ahead of next season after defender Femi Ilesanmi moved from Dagenham & Redbridge and goalkeeper Jason Mooney joined from Tranmere.
