League Two Round-Up, 26.6.14

We take a look at the latest news around the grounds in Sky Bet League Two.

Accrington Stanley
Stanley defender Dean Winnard has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract this week. The 24-year-old centre back has made over 200 appearances in five seasons with the club and described playing in the Football League as an 'honour'. Youngster Josh Windass has also signed a new two-year contract.

AFC Wimbledon
Wimbledon's impressive transfer business has continued this week with the signing of former Southend defender Mark Phillips. The 32-year-old made 32 appearances for Southend last season before spending time on loan with Aldershot.

Burton Albion
Brewers midfielder Robbie Weir has signed a new two-year deal with the club this week after their play-off disappointment. The Express & Star are also reporting that they would be interested in signing Wolves winger Zeli Ismail who enjoyed a loan spell with Burton last season.

Bury
Shakers boss David Flitcroft has told the Bury Times that he believes new signing Keil O'Brien could be a defensive gem. The non-league starlet was snapped up from Chorley last week and Flitcroft believes he has every chance to succeed. 

Cambridge United
Promoted Cambridge's new signing, Johnny Hunt, has told the Cambridge News that he is relishing the chance to meet his new team-mates following his move from Wrexham. The 23-year-old midfielder is just one of Cambridge's additions for their return to the Football League after nine years out.

Carlisle United
Former Carlisle fan favourite Tom Cowan has thrown his support behind the club's decision to back Graham Kavanagh following their relegation in May. The Cumbrian club have also announced a brand new 5-a-side pitch is to be installed at their training ground by SIS Pitches.

Dagenham & Redbridge
The Daggers have signed defender Damian Batt on a two-year deal following a spell with Eastleigh last season. The former Oxford United player has had a previous spell with Dag & Red back in 2004. Batt's transfer followed that of duo Mark Cousins (goalkeeper) and Nathan Green (defender) from Colchester and Tonbridge Angels respectively.

Exeter City
Exeter are set to net a £20,000 cash boost, reports Western Morning News. The transfer of former Grecian James Dunne to Portsmouth is set to give the club a much needed financial boost following his switch from Stevenage. The midfielder was under the age of 24 so Exeter were due compensation. The Grecians have also reported this week that their physio Andy Proctor is to join Oxford United.

Hartlepool United
Hartlepool have confirmed the signing of Matthew Bates this week. The ex-Middlesbrough defender left Bradford City following the 2013-14 season but not an undisclosed deal will see him playing at Victoria Park next season.

Luton Town
The Hatters have snapped up Boston United striker Ricky Miller on a one-year deal following his free transfer from the non-league side. He scored 28 goals in all competitions for Boston last season and Luton boss John Still likened him to veteran striker Kevin Phillips.

Mansfield Town
Stags boss Paul Cox has told the Nottingham Post that his players need to 'prove the bookies wrong'. Cox picked out odds of 8/1 for his side to be relegated with some bookmakers and he has called upon his players to prove their critics wrong as supposed underdogs.

Morecambe
The latest news from Morecambe has been that defender Chris Doyle has signed a new one-year contract after being named 'Reserve Team Player of the Year' and making three appearances for the first team.

Newport County
33-year-old County midfielder Michael Flynn says he has ambitions to become a manager following his appointment as the club's Academy boss. He signed a one year extension earlier this summer as he prepares to take his first step into coaching.

Northampton Town
Cobblers boss Chris Wilder has backed his squad of players to compete in the league next season and prove their dismal campaign last season was a 'one-off'. So far he has recruited Zander Diamond (defender), Marc Richards (striker) and former Robins winger Kaid Mohamed.

Oxford United
The U's supporters' trust, OxVox, have urged chairman Ian Lenagan to break his silence with speculation rife about numerous takeover bids. Oxford have remained silent so far.
The U's have also appointed Exeter's Ian Proctor as their head physio.

Plymouth Argyle
The Pilgrims have signed right back Kelvin Mellor after his release from League One side Crewe Alexandra. The 23-year-old played 91 times for Crewe including the play-off final versus the Robins back in 2012.
Talented midfielder Conor Hourihane has left the club however after agreeing terms with Barnsley on a three-year contract.

Portsmouth
Pompey have snapped up Stevenage midfielder James Dunne and ex-Torquay goalkeeper Michael Poke on two-year deals. Portsmouth have also reported this week that former Monaco midfielder Roman Padovani has left the club by mutual consent after just one season.

Shrewsbury Town
Shrews boss Micky Mellon has admitted he is now in the hunt for a new striker after Tom Bradshaw turned down a new deal to join Walsall in League One. The Shrewsbury manager has also completed his UEFA Pro license it has been reported by the club's official website.

Southend United
The Shrimpers have completed the signing of former Tottenham and Southampton striker Lee Barnard for what will be his third spell as a Southend player. He has signed a one-year deal after a loan spell with the club last season. There have also been new one-year deals for goalkeeper Paul Smith and midfielder Jack Payne.

Stevenage Borough
Stevenage midfielder James Dunne has left the club to join Portsmouth but the club have recently announced the signing of winger Tom Pett who has switched from non-league side Wealdstone.

Tranmere Rovers
The Liverpool Echo are reporting on controversial plans by Tranmere to sell of it's training ground for housing. Former Robins loanee Michael Ihiekwe has linked up with Rovers this week and the Prenton Park outfit have also appointed a new head scout, Alex Hay.

Wycombe Wanderers
Accrington Stanley's Peter Murphy has moved to Wycombe this week with the versatile player signing a two-year contract. A third year is an option on his contract depending on appearances.

York City
York's new signing Femi Ilesanmi has targeted a top three finish in an interview with the York Press this week. The left back joined the club this summer following his departure from Dagenham & Redbridge.
