Farewell To Jim Geddes

14 July 2014

Former Robin Jim Geddes has passed away at the age of 84.

Cheltenham Town Football Club was saddened to hear of the death on Friday of former player Jim Geddes (pictured - back row, third from the right).

Jim was a member of the successful team of the 1950s assembled by manager Arch Anderson. A line-up containing mainly Scottish players achieved a top six finish in the Southern League in six consecutive seasons and won the Southern League Cup in 1957-58.

Jim was signed from Motherwell in 1955 and spent six seasons with the Robins. A versatile player who could operate in a number of defensive and midfield positions, he made a total of 195 appearances in a highly settled team.

After leaving Cheltenham he returned to his native Lanarkshire and passed away on Friday at the age of 84. His funeral takes place on Tuesday in the town of Forth, where his football career began with local junior side Forth Wanderers.

Our thoughts are with Jim's friends and family at this sad time.
