VIDEO: New signings close, says Cheltenham Town boss Paul Buckle

22 January 2015

Cheltenham Town boss Paul Buckle confirmed that he is closing in on at least two new signings.

He has so far brought in four loan players, with Lloyd Jones, Kevin Stewart and Jack Dunn arriving from Liverpool and Jake Gray brought in from Crystal Palace.

With Kane Ferdinand's stay from Peterborough United extended until the end of the season, the maximum of five loans in a match day squad has been reached and Buckle has now turned his attention to permanent additions.

"We are up to five loans now and in the next week or so, players will be paid up at other clubs and managers will be shuffling the pack so we'll be looking to pick up two or three new faces," Buckle said.

"I had a very positive meeting with the board last week and while anyone we can bring in will have to fit in with the financial structure, it’s more positive and there are three players I am keen on.

"They are all at other clubs at the moment, discussing their futures so I am waiting on them and we may have to patient. They are all in different positions, but a striker is probably top of my priorities."

Buckle said that none of the four trialist who featured in Tuesday's reserve game at Newport County will be taken on. Luis Morrison-Derbyshire, Tomislav Ivicic, Sam Bobes and Mehdi Kerrouche all played in the 3-1 Final Third Development Cup defeat.
