Cheltenham secured back-to-back wins at the start of a new season for the very first time with a 2-1 win over Accrington Stanley.

The Robins secured all six points in a match they deserved to win but it wasn't all plain sailing for Mark Yates' side with late drama threatening to hand the visitors a point.

Cheltenham Town started the game strong enough and they were rarely threatened by an Accrington side that werel imited to long rang attacks but Byron Harrison's first goal of the season handed his side the lead after Troy Brown's header was blocked a yard from goal and the striker was quick to prod it over the line.

Harrison himself was subbed off after scoring due to a dead leg and he was swiftl replaced by Birmingham loanee Koby Arthur who would later go on to hit a major milestone. Cheltenham continued to control the majority of the game and came close frequently to securing a second goal through Gornell, Arthur and captain Taylor but it was Accrington that stunned the Whaddon Road crowd after Kal Naismith struck on 77 minutes in just one moment of a lapse in concentration from the normally fantastic Robins defence.

It seemed as though Cheltenham were heading towards a disappointing draw but a quickly taken Trevor Carson clearance up the pitch was caught well by Koby Arthur and what came next was special. The young Ghanaian used his blistering pace to sweep past the Accrington defender before direting the ball past the oncoming goalkeeper to secure all three points and his first goal in professional football.

It wasn't over however and Accrington were awarded a penalty in the dying embers of the game after Lee Vaughan was adjudged to have fouled Mingoia in the area. Naismith stepped up but his confidently taken penalty was lifted over the bar into the Accrington fans behind goal and his side's chances of taking any point was gone.
