The Robins and Burton Albion shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw in Sky Bet League One action at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium.
Both sides forged opportunities to take the lead but neither Luke Southwood nor Max Crocombe were really tested during the 90.
However Tom Bradbury’s goal line clearance in second half stoppage time ensured Town bounced back from the Wycombe defeat with a point.
“It was a frustrating second half performance from ourselves,” said Town manager Darrell Clarke post-match.
“I thought after the first half we had a lot of control, got into dangerous areas and I was hoping we would kick on.
“We didn’t create the opportunities I would’ve liked to create and we didn’t get our forward play going.”
It was a quiet opening to proceedings with neither side able to gain an upper hand in the wet conditions before Liam Sercombe danced into the box only to see his shot blocked.
A quick interchange between the midfielder and George Lloyd released the latter moments later and he went down under the challenge of Steve Seddon but the penalty appeals were waved away by referee Thomas Parsons.
The Robins had clicked into gear with the Town duo combining again, this time Matty Taylor’s effort from close range was superbly blocked by Tom Hamer.
The visitors had a chance of their own before the break as Seddon’s powerful drive rose over the upright, casuing no trouble to Southwood.
After the break, the Brewers started to create more opportunities with vital blocks being made by both Sean Long and Liam Kinsella to keep the score level.
Moments later Deji Oshilaja’s square ball narrowly evaded a diving Ademola Ola-Adebomi in the six yard box.
The Robins created more chances of their own to take the lead with the best coming from Taylor but his free header was importantly blocked by a Burton defender.
In added time, the hosts had Bradbury to thank for preserving a point after Joe Hugill poked the ball past Southwood 30 yards from goal before the defender raced back onto the line to clear at the death.
