Liam Kinsella joins Town

24 January 2024

Cheltenham Town are excited to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Liam Kinsella from Swindon Town.

The 27-year-old arrives at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium on an 18-month contract, keeping him at the club until the Summer of 2025.

Liam reunites with manager Darrell Clarke, who he spent time playing under during his time with Walsall.

Kinsella joined the Saddlers when he was eight years old, at the same time his Dad Mark was playing for the club.

He went on to progress into the first team and eventually made his debut in a 0-0 draw against Bradford City aged just 18.

The Republic of Ireland youth international went on to play over 200 times in the Midlands before waving goodbye to club, joining Swindon in the Summer.

He made 22 League Two appearances at the County Ground this term before making the switch to join the Robins in their battle for League One survival.

The gaffer spoke to the local press about his latest recruit after the defeat to Bolton Wanderers and added:

"I've worked with Kins before at Walsall and he's a real consistent performer. Whether that's with his performance or his energy levels.

"He gives us another option in the middle of the park and with a lot of games to fit in, everyone is going to be needed and Liam adds that bit more strength in depth."

Liam's move is in association with club partners Little Jet Company and you can get his player sponsorship now for half price.

Great to have you with us, Liam!
