Robins manager Darrell Clarke spoke with the local press after Town's 3-1 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium.
Striker Matty Taylor netted a consolation on his debut for the club but the Robins couldn't claw back the three goal defecit.
After the defeat, Clarke said:
"I've said to the lads, we can't afford to conceed the goals that we did today. The manner we conceded them in was poor and it doesn't give you a platform go and win the game.
"We huffed and we puffed but I thought that was a million miles off the last two performances, so we have to analyse that.
"We are in a situation in the season where we can't chuck games away like that, so we have to learn very quickly and go again on Tuesday."
