Nathan Butler-Oyedeji joins on loan from Arsenal

1 September 2023

Cheltenham Town can confirm that young forward Nathan Butler-Oyedeji has joined the club on a season-long loan from Arsenal.

The pacy forward primarily operates through the middle of the attack and joins the Robins as our eleventh signing of the 2023/24 campaign.

Having been with the Gunners since the age of eight, Nathan has developed and progressed in North London, where he has been playing for the clubs U21 side.

Nathan netted four times in as many matches in the EFL Trophy last term before finishing the season on loan in League One with Accrington Stanley.

He already has one goal to his name for the young Gunners this season too, having scored in the sides Premier League 2 opener, a 3-0 win over West Ham United.

The 20-year-old has also experienced training with the Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal first team, doing so as recently as last week.

Our latest addition trained with Wade Elliott and his squd earlier today ahead of our League One clash with Barnsley tomorrow afternoon.

Butler-Oyedeji had this to say after commiting his near future to the Robins:

"I'm really happy to be here and I am looking forward to the challenge this season.

"I was with Accrington Stanley last season. Coming from Arsenal it was a big culture shock, but one that I think every player needs.

"I'm a fast player with an eye for goal who likes to make things happen so hopefully I can do that for Cheltenham."

Welcome to the Robins Nathan!
