Long named 22/23 PFA Community Champion

6 May 2023

Seán Long has been named Cheltenham Town's PFA Community Champion winner for the 2022/23 season.

Last season the Irishman won the award for his contribution to the club and Cheltenham Town Community Trust’s work in the local community, and he has continued that this campaign.

From visiting Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, seeing the children and dropping off Christmas presents, to visiting local schools and universities and even helping the Trust on educational visits, Long has supported the community throughout the season and has been the Participation & Engagement Ambassador for the Trust.

The prize is awarded in association with the Professional Footballers' Association with every club in the EFL having a player selected from their squad to receive the award.

"The PFA has once again been immensely proud of the outstanding efforts of players this season and we feel they should be recognised for their support and involvement in the local community. The Award will hopefully raise awareness of the importance many of our members attach to their roles off the pitch and highlight their continued commitment to support those most in need along with engaging in areas where they have a personal interest. We would like to offer our congratulations to this season’s recipient of the 2022/23 PFA Community Champion Award.” Maheta Molango – CEO Professional Footballers’ Association

Cheltenham Town Community Trust manager Olly Roberts presented the 28-year-old with the award at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium earlier in the week.
