Elliott ahead of the final day of the 22/23 season

5 May 2023

Wade Elliott looked ahead to Cheltenham Town's final match of the season against Charlton Athletic and spoke about the club's current 'golden period'.

In his pre-match press conference, brought to you by Selco Builders Warehouse, Elliott said: "We've picked up 20 points from our last 12 games, won five, drawn five and lost two. That is really strong form and we need to continue in that vein and put in a performance to what we have been doing over the last couple months."

Tickets are still available for our last game of the season against Charlton at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium on Sunday, and remember the match kicks off from midday.

The match this weekend is the closest to the 25th anniversary of our FA Trophy Final victory at Wembley in 1998, and Elliott believes it's important for the current crop to appreciate the history of the club.

"Remembering past games and being appreciative of this football club reinforces that message to the current group that it is a powerful thing to leave your own imprint on a club and a legacy to be remembered.

"We've spoken about this being a golden era for the football club. All those drivers can be powerful motivation for players. We do have a group who have the opportunity to do that, and it is a powerful driver."
