We are seeking an Academy Lead Sports Therapist who can work as part of a team and be responsible for our schoolboy age groups and the U19 development programme.

External:

Premier League clubs & Football League clubs, FA, Universities/colleges, FAYCD, and PFA.

Job Description

Location

Cheltenham Town FC Training Ground, Cheltenham, GL51 9RX

Working Pattern and Work base

Full time 35 hours per week

●       Flexible working arrangements/hours

●       Required to work outside of normal office hours, at evenings and weekends, on bank holidays and public holidays.

●       Required to work across different bases

Travel

Regular travel to fixtures, meetings and other events in connection with performance of the duties detailed below.

Overall purpose of the job

 

 

Provide medical support to the Youth Development, Foundation Phases and Development Centre Teams creating individual rehabilitation programmes, injury prevention programmes, data collection and reviewing the outcomes.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

 

 

Personal growth:

●       Undertake self-development to ensure knowledge in relation to all aspect of role is up-to-date and forward thinking

●       Build relationships throughout the Academy and broader

●       Attendance at the relevant CPD & in-service training programme as specified throughout the season.

Sports Science & Medicine

●       Provide medical cover for match days as required (FP, YDP, U19 fixtures)

●       Coordinate and manage sports therapist part time staff, medical students and interns for all FP, YDP & U19 development centre training and matches

●       Schedule, manage and coordinate weekly injury/rehab clinics

●       Follow emergency action plan as required

●       Completion of the PMA injury reports

●       Manage the completion of the PMA weekly injury log, input rehabilitation (9-16s) and notes

●       In collaboration with the Senior Physiotherapist organise CPD to take place every 6 weeks with the SS&M department

●       Provide updates on player assessment, rehab plans and return to play

●       Manage medical screening for 9-16s / U19s

●       Manage the prehab planning and delivery for 9-16s

Meetings

●       Attend and input into AMT meetings.

●       Attend and departmental multidisciplinary meetings

Such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post and to assist the Academy Manager

 

 

Person Specifications (Essential)

Qualifications

●       Pitch side first aid for sport

●       BSC in Sports Therapy (or Equivalent)

●       Safeguarding and Protecting Children

●       Intermediate First Aid for Sport (ITMMIF)

Required Experience

Experience of working in at least 1 of the following roles:

●       A pitch side sports therapist at a football club

●       A pitch side sports therapist at a sports club

Knowledge and/or experience of at least 1 of the following:

●       Providing physiotherapy for young athletes within the framework of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).

●       Providing physiotherapy for young athletes within the NHS

●       Providing physiotherapy for young athletes within sports clubs

ICT experience of PMA, excel, word and any other software as required to carry out the duties required for the job.

Other Requirements

●    Have a full clean driving licence

●    DBS clearance
