Oli Hammond joins the Robins on loan

1 August 2023

Cheltenham Town are delighted to announce the signing of young midfielder Oli Hammond on loan from Nottingham Forest until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old put pen-to-paper on a new deal at the City Ground just last week and now links up with Wade Elliott's squad.

Hammond joined Forest's academy at the age of eight and arrives at the Robins ready for a first spell in senior football.

The Wales youth international scored six times whilst notching five assists for Forest's U21's side in Premier League 2 Division 2 last term.

Hammond has also had some first team experience with the Reds, after cameos in the Carabao Cup against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Grimsby Town and Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Our latest signing trained with his new teammates for the first time this morning and will be available for our League One curtain raiser against Shrewsbury Town this weekend.

Speaking to the club after his move, Hammond said:

"It feels great. It's been a long time coming but now I just can't wait to get started and get going.

"A move like this is vital for my progression and it's something I have been wanting to do for a while now.

"I think this is the perfect place to do it for me."

The youngster also spoke on his excitement of playing in front of the Robins fans for the first time.

"I can't wait to show everyone what I can do and what the team have been working on.

"It's been a good pre-season and I can't wait to get going and see everyone."

Welcome to the Robins Oli!
