Curtis Thompson becomes a Robin

3 August 2023

We are delighted to announce that midfielder Curtis Thompson has joined Cheltenham Town on a one-year-deal following a short trial period.

The 29-year-old becomes the Robins' seventh signing of the Summer after playing the last 25 minutes of our final pre-season match against Newport County last Saturday.

Thompson has put pen-to-paper in Gloucestershire, commiting to the upcoming 2023/24 season after leaving Wycombe Wanderers at the end of last term.

The Nottingham born midfielder played his academy football with Leicester City and Notts County, making his professional debut for the Magpies a month after his 18th birthday.

He spent nine years with County before permanently joining the Chairboys ahead of the 2018/19 season after a succesful loan spell.

Thompson made over 150 appearances during his time at Adams Park, helping the team to the Championship for the first time in the 2019/20 season.

Speaking to the club upon his arrival Curtis said:

"I'm delighted to get it over the line.

"I'm a midfielder who likes to get stuck in with tenacity and I like to try and get on the ball as much as possible.

"I want to be positive, drive the team and work really hard in every single game I play."

Head of Recruitment Russell Milton had this to say on Thompson's arrival.

"We're delighted to add Curtis to the group," Milton began.

"He's got really good experience and pedigree and we've recieved great character references from his previous managers.

"He'll be a real asset to squad and will certainly benefit the other players around him.

"He had a setback with injury in the past yeat but we've done all the necessary checks and he's ready to get going."

Welcome to Cheltenham Town Curtis!
