Cheltenham Town captain Sean Long spoke to the press after losing 4-0 to Oxford United in League One.
It was a tough evening for the Robins at the Kassam Stadium after three second half goals from the home side sealed the win for Oxford.
Following the match, Long said: "It shows what can happen when you don't do the basics. We aren't good enough to coast through any game.
"First half there wasn't much in it. The goal was poor, I haven't seen it back so maybe there was a foul on Ben [Williams] but I don't know.
"In the second half we tried to have a go, but maybe a bit naive and trying to play in areas we shouldn't of, and they punished us."
