Freestone on his return from injury

14 April 2023

Lewis Freestone gave his thoughts on returning to the starting eleven in the draw against Ipswich Town and what he makes of tomorrow's opponents, MK Dons.

The defender suffered a serious injury on New Years Day at Bristol Rovers, seeing him out for just over three months.

Last weekend, Freestone returned to the matchday squad and came on in the second half against Lincoln City. On Monday he moved straight into the side versus the Tractor Boys, and helped end their winning streak with a solid performance on the left-hand side of the three at the back.

Speaking on his rehabilitation, the 23-year-old said: "We knew from the start it was going to be a tough, long process.

"The club made it clear they would do everything they can to help me get back on the pitch, and in hand I made the same decision that when I am not in or around football, I will do everything I can to help the process.

"I switched my diet a bit, and wasn't running as much, but I just tried to stay in shape and give myself the best possible chance to come back."
