Match sponsor v Walsall: The Samaritans

20 September 2022

A very warm welcome to the Samaritans this evening who are match sponsors for our Papa John's Trophy tie against Walsall at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium.

Samaritans vision is that fewer people die by suicide. Their mission is to make sure there’s someone there for anyone who needs someone, to give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others, and to campaign to make suicide prevention a national and local priority.

They are available to callers 24/7, whether they are experiencing a suicidal crisis or whether they just need to talk things through. Contact them on freephone number 116123 or email

The latest suicide data reveals the following:

  • Males are 2.9 times more likely to die by suicide in England than females
  • Males aged 50-54 were found to have the highest suicide rate (22.5 per 100,000).

Commentating on this evening's sponsorship, they said: "Cheltenham & District Samaritans will celebrate their 60th Anniversary in 2023 and are proud of our relationship with Cheltenham Town Football Club which clearly enables us to reach out to the community where it is crucial for our message to be heard."
