Match Pack: Sheffield Wednesday (A)

6 October 2022

The Robins will make their trip to Hillsborough on Saturday to face Sheffield Wednesday in the Sky Bet League One (3PM KO).

With two home wins over Shrewsbury Town and Bolton Wanderers, the Robins have an unbeaten start at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium this month.

Sheffield Wednesday are currently 3rd in League One, but lost 2-1 away to Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday-the loss was only their third of the season.

Six fixtures are still to be played in October, including this Saturday's visit to Hillsborough. Robins fans can still purchase your tickets.

“It's nice to go away off the back of a couple of wins. We have talked about home form being the foundation of what we do, but prior to Accrington our away performances and form had been pretty good. We want to pick that back up,” said Wade Elliott ahead of the game.

“I'd imagine when the fixtures come out at the start of the year, Wednesday away would be one of the ones they (the players) look for. But we've earned the right to be going there. We have earned the right to go and compete with them on a level playing field. We certainly won't be going there and being passive.”

The Robins are looking forward to the game, and are aiming to put in a good performance against the Owls.

Its just trusting the process really, the gaffer was big on the boys putting in a good performance and focussing on that, but obviously we’ve got a lot of talented boys so you’ve just got to trust the process,” revealed Ryan Jackson.

Wednesday manager Darren Moore knows the challenge that Cheltenham could bring to his side, while also praising our head coach.

“Wade took over at a time after Michael Duff moved on. He was part of the staff. He has done his coaching badges and he has been given a wonderful opportunity to manage Cheltenham. He has got them playing with a solid approach. They have got some good wins on the board. I am sure they will come up here in a confident, buoyant mood. It is a different type of test for us,” he revealed.

The city centre has plenty of bars that will accommodate you. Hillsborough Stadium is 5 miles from the city centre and if using the tram service catch the YELLOW LINE MIDDLEWOOD TRAM and disembark at LEPPINGS LANE for the stadium.
