Club to open as #WarmCheltenham hub and support those in need

16 November 2022

Cheltenham Town will be playing their part in tackling the cost-of-living challenges by operating as a ‘warm hub’ for the local community and supporters in the lead up to Christmas.

In collaboration with the Cheltenham Town Community Trust, the club will be opening its’ doors and offering a safe and warm space for locals every Monday.

A fully-staffed warm room with hot drinks and breakfast supplies, will be provided between 10am and midday from Monday, 21 November to Monday 19 December.

The Typecraft Suite will be open for supporters and local residents who may be struggling to heat their homes due to energy price rises or who may be experiencing the effects of loneliness this winter.

The club have engaged with both Cheltenham Borough Council and Cheltenham Borough Homes who will promote the initiative to their networks ahead of the first session on Monday 21 November.

Top-tier club partners, Mira Showers and Selco Builders Warehouse have generously agreed to fund the project.

Both organisations have been active in supporting community-led work in the last few months and share the club’s view that we have an important role to play in supporting the local community.

Cheltenham Town Fan Elected Director, Dave Beesley said: “This is a fantastic example of organisations who have their community close to their hearts working together.

“Our special thanks go to the Community Trust, to our fantastic partners at Mira Showers, Selco and Cheltenham Borough Council for their support in getting this project off the ground.”
