Will Boyle thanked Cheltenham Town fans for their personal support of him as he ended the campaign on Saturday alongside his teammates in a final day 2-2 draw at Cambridge United.

The Robins skipper was sent off late in the second half at the Abbey Stadium having picked up two yellow cards but was applauded off the field of play by the fans who made the trip to Cambridgeshire.

Boyle has spent five-and-a-half years as a Cheltenham player since arriving at the club in January 2017. He has been offered a new contract by the club for the 2022/23 season but looks likely to be moving onto pastures new this summer.

"Since I've been here throughout I've had nothing but constant support whether I'm playing well, playing poorly, playing average, I think I've always tried to do my best and I think they've noticed that," he said.

"They've got behind me constantly and to have that support is unbelievable. It's just a massive thank you for my whole time here I really appreciate it.

"To be along the journey from start to finish I get a massive sense of pride with that. A lot of players have come and gone and we've only had two managers in that time but there has been so much change at the club.

"To be there throughout it I count myself first of all as really lucky and as a team and as a club to have ended up doing this I couldn't have asked for much more."
