Reaction: Lloyd on AFC Wimbledon

20 March 2022

George Lloyd marked his return from injury with his first League One goal in Saturday's victory against AFC Wimbledon.

The young forward has missed much of the campaign because of an injury that cut short his season-long loan spell at League Two side Port Vale.

He returned as a second half substitute in last weekend's win against Morecambe and came off the bench again to take on the Dons, helping to play a part in a late second half comeback where he scored the second of three goals against the team's relegation threatened opponents.

"I was in the right place at the right time luckily and managed to put it in the back of the net," he said when discussing his goal.

"Blairy (Matty Blair) was on the wing. He took a player on and crossed it and it went through a few bodies and I managed to react.

"It wasn't our best today but everyone ran for each other. We did well as a unit but there just wasn't much quality. We tried to press them a little bit more and force mistakes and we managed to get a few chances and score some goals."

Lloyd will be hoping to be involved again on Tuesday night when the team travel to Home Park to face Plymouth Argyle in a 7.45pm kick-off.
