Reaction: Duff on Doncaster Rovers

5 March 2022

A more energetic performance pleased Michael Duff as he saw his team run out 4-0 winners against Doncaster Rovers.

A week ago the Robins lost at home to bottom of the table Crewe Alexandra after a flat showing following two long away trips in a short amount of time.

They made up for that showing though with a confident display against a Donny side who are also scrapping at the wrong end of the league table.

Alfie May scored twice while there were also goals from Ben Williams and Mattie Pollock as Cheltenham secured their biggest ever League One win.

"We wanted moments and obviously produced a few moments," Duff said.

"We ran out comfortable in the end but it's never really that comfortable.

"Last week there was no intensity in what we did. The running numbers were down hugely. Almost 2,000 metres a man - which is a lot - from the game before which was off the charts.

"They're scrapping for their lives and they've had some good away results. I think they've taken ten points from their last five away games at places like MK Dons and Sunderland.

"They didn't look like they wanted it any more than us. They didn't look like they wanted to scrap any harder than us. We have to always win that battle and then try and bring our football to it - it can never be the other way around."
