Preview: May on Morecambe

11 March 2022

Front man Alfie May knows that his Cheltenham Town teammates will have to win the battle when it comes to Saturday's away match at Morecambe.

The Shrimps are fighting for their lives as they look to remain in League One and this weekend's contest at the Mazuma Stadium is another significant one for Cheltenham too in the pursuit of points required to confirm third tier safety.

May, who has been crowned the League One February Player of the Month, is well aware of what Saturday's opponents will be bringing to the occasion when they lock horns.

"They beat us twice last year in League Two. I know we beat them at the start of the season here but you can see by the videos they are fighting for each other, they are fighting for the manager, they are fighting for the club to stay in this League," he said.

"There are people running around doing the hard work and it is going to be a really tough game so it's important that we prepare right and prepare at what is coming to come for us.

"They are going to be looking at it probably thinking this is the chance to get three points against Cheltenham so it's important that we don't think it's just Morecambe and they are down there - we need to be really focused and ready for Saturday."
