Preview: Duff on Sheffield Wednesday

25 March 2022

The motivation of playing in front of one of the biggest crowds of the season will be enough to ensure Cheltenham Town provide Sheffield Wednesday with a stern test at Hillsborough on Saturday in the eyes of boss Michael Duff.

The Robins head to South Yorkshire to play the Owls on their home patch for the first time in the two club's histories.

Sitting 12th in League One, with Wednesday just outside the play-offs, doesn't mean that Duff believes his players will not be giving everything to get a good result on the road after defeat at Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday, which saw with it a good performance from the squad.

"They have been on a really good run and I'd imagine there will be 20-25,000 and they have something to play for, so they are champing at the bit," he said.

"That's just an extra part to the challenge, but we'll have to be good to get any kind of result.

"Motivation will not be a problem. I rarely wish I was still playing, but I am pretty certain when you go to places like this, there is an element of wishing you could still play. These are the games you want to be playing in."
