Preview: Duff on AFC Wimbledon

18 March 2022

Having already taken on AFC Wimbledon twice this season, Michael Duff is using the threat the Dons carried in both of those matches as an important point to remember ahead of Saturday's meeting at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

The Robins faced the Dons in both the FA Cup second round and in the first League meeting back in early February.

It was Saturday's visitors who came out on top in the Cup and then in the League clash they struck a late goal to earn a point in a 2-2 draw.

He knows that they'll be fighting for their lives at the Jonny-Rocks this weekend but believes one more victory will also be enough to make it realistic that his team will be playing League One football again next term.

"I think Wimbledon have been better than us in the two games we've played against them," he said.

"If we can get one more (win) that will probably be enough this year because it's so hard for the teams in the bottom half of the League to win consistently because the League is split in two.

"It is hard to go on a run because you're always going to come up against one of the big teams in the top half of the League. It is a league within a league.

""The biggest warning shot in the world is we played Crewe who were bottom of the League and had just lost seven on the spin, and got beat, so hopefully for the players that will have been a warning shot for them."
