Reaction: Duff on Rotherham United

22 January 2022

The decision not to give a foul in his side's favour for the first half winning goal at Rotherham United frustrated Cheltenham Town boss Michael Duff.

The Millers leading marksman Michael Smith's first half strike won the Millers the game in south Yorkshire, but it came after a tussle from a long ball over the top that referee Oliver Langford failed to give as a foul in Duff's eyes.

"It was a foul and ultimately that's the difference in the game," he said when speaking to the media after the game.

"Where we're at, at the minute we need a little bit of luck and we just need the referee to make the right decision.

"I thought it was a good performance. I think they've had two shots on target, so I think it tells you a lot about the performance.

"Results we can't seem to get at the minute but performances have been good. We've got to keep cracking on, keep working hard, and need something to drop for us really.

"First half we were a bit scrappy. We just wanted to fight and didn't pass the ball. Second half we found a few passes and then we could play into the front."
