Reaction: Duff on Charlton Athletic

15 January 2022

Although he saw his side fail to hang onto victory by conceding a late stoppage time goal, Michael Duff was full of praise for his team's performance against Charlton Athletic.

The former top-flight side managed to muster a point from their visit to Gloucestershire with one of the final kicks of the game after Cheltenham had led for the majority of the afternoon thanks to Dan Nlundulu's first half goal.

There were numerous other good chances for Duff's men to further extend their lead that didn't hit the back of the net, with Charlton's goalkeeper Stephen Henderson in good form.

Duff believes there's plenty to be happy about from his team's showing despite the deserved win not coming the Robins way.

"We could have won four games today," he said. "You've got to feel for them, I think they've been excellent in the last three or four games.

"It's a tough industry. It doesn't owe you anything. It doesn't feel sorry for you.

"But if they perform like that for the next 20 games we'll be absolutely fine because they are a good team Charlton and I thought we dominated the game."

The team are next in action on Saturday 22 January with a visit to high flying Rotherham United.
