Reaction: Duff on Crewe Alexandra

26 February 2022

There was disappointment for Michael Duff that his team couldn't recreate the intensity in defeat to Crewe Alexandra that had seen them pick up points on the road at Wycombe Wanderers and Ipswich Town of late.

Crewe took all three points home with them to Cheshire with a 2-1 victory at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium and Duff felt it was a flat afternoon for his side.

"We actually started the game really well and we probably should have been one up in the first two minutes," he said.

"We never really got a foothold in the game. Didn't do any of the things we asked them to do.

"We looked leggy, flat, I thought the atmosphere was flat and sometimes supporters need to realise we're not just going to rock up and beat teams.

"That was a disappointment because we changed the team on Tuesday night so we'd have a bit more spark to us.

"Ultimately they've had two shots on goal from two set plays, so as poor as we were with the ball, we can't give up goals like that."
