Barkers extends Robins contract

21 December 2022

Dylan Barkers has extended his contract with Cheltenham Town after signing a short-term deal, keeping him at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old was on loan at National League side Maidstone United briefly this season, and has featured three times for Cheltenham. His performance against Chelsea U21 in the Papa Johns Trophy saw Robins fans vote for him as their man of the match.

After sealing his short-term future with the club, Barkers was happy to complete the deal.

"When you get to the last month of your contract, it can play on your mind. I'm really happy to stay here until the summer," said Barkers.

"It was a massive confidence booster to be named man of the match, especially after not playing for so long, and for the fans to acknowlegde my performance is great for me."

Following the game, head coach Wade Elliott said: "Dylan did well. He's a talented boy who has lot's of good attributes. He now needs to perform like that on a consistent basis."

The midfielder joined the club in July, 2021 from Southern Premier Central Alvechurch, and has made 14 apperances for Cheltenham. In search for regular minutes, Barkers has also had loans at Leamington and Gloucester City.
