Reaction: Duff on Portsmouth

9 April 2022

Michael Duff felt his team deserved their victory over Portsmouth.

Liam Sercombe's second half goal was the Robins reward for a good showing against the former FA Cup winners.

The midfield struck after an excellent attacking team move, and were it not for an impressive showing from Gavin Bazunu in the visiting goal, Duff felt there could have been even more goals for his team in the contest.

"I thought their goalkeeper kept them in the game," he said.

"I thought it was quite a tight first half. I thought we had the better chances. I don't know how the goalmouth scramble hasn't gone in. Kion (Etete) should have scored right on half time - he's got a free header that he's disappointed with.

"Then in the second half we allowed them to have the ball in certain areas. We had to make blocks and things because they're a good team. I thought the goalkeeper for them was excellent today.

"I thought we did every part of the game well. We defended when we had to and passed the ball a lot better than we have done in recent weeks."
