Reaction: Duff on Accrington Stanley

2 April 2022

Michael Duff believed his team were lucky to get a point in the dramatic 4-4 draw at Accrington Stanley.

He believed his troops were fortunate to come away from the Wham Stadium with something from the game after Will Boyle's last gasp equaliser.

But despite that, he praised the squad's team spirit which shone through once again this season as they managed to pick up a point having been 4-2 down with two minutes of normal time to play.

"We got away with one today - we weren't very good," he said.

"We didn't deserve a point and we managed to nick one so there are loads of frustrating things that you're not happy with but one thing you can't question is the spirit within the camp.

"We got outplayed today there's no doubt about that, but they didn't let their heads go down. We did it last week against Sheffield Wednesday - we went to the last minute - and today we've nicked a point.

"We were better last week when we got beaten 4-1, so there are loads of things to work on - too many goals conceded, we know that, it's an obvious one. It's something we're not particularly happy about so we'll get back to work on that.

"The success of the team in the last three years has been built on that. But the other side of it is the spirit and the little moments of quality. I'm frustrated but pleased at the same time."
