Preview: Duff on Bolton Wanderers

21 April 2022

Ahead of Saturday's final home fixture of the season, boss Michael Duff is well aware of the strength in depth and quality that opponents Bolton Wanderers possess in their squad.

Like Cheltenham, Bolton gained promotion to this level from League Two last season, and the former Premier League side have secured a finish in the top half of the table.

They have plenty of quality in their ranks so it will be a tricky final home outing for the Robins.

"They recruited heavily in January and they've been on a good run since then," he said.

"I think they are unbeaten in six and have had three defeats since January so they're a big team in this League - look at the players who aren't in the team.

"You've got full internationals coming off the bench so it shows you the strength in depth, even with the injuries that they do have as well.

"In terms of their squad it's a very good squad. Last year they had an average start but the reason they got promoted was because of their recruitment in January and they went on an unbelievable run. If the season had been any longer they'd have probably gone onto win the League.

"That's resources, good players, and a manager who has got a way of playing and the players have bought into it."
