Reaction: Perry on Charlton Athletic

12 September 2021

Taylor Perry registered an all-important first Football League and Cheltenham Town goal in Saturday's 2-1 away win at Charlton Athletic.

The talented midfielder, on loan from Wolves, scored the second of Cheltenham's two goals in the first half at The Valley.

He also played a part in the first goal, producing the effort on target that led to Matty Blair's subsequent follow up, and he was delighted to be able to get on the score-sheet and help the Robins register such an important three points on the road.

"The gaffer wants me to bring lots of energy to the team. That's where I've scored most of my goals, getting into the box," he said.

"I saw the opportunity to run into the box and I saw the space and Matty Blair crossed it and I got on the end of it. I'm really pleased with that.

"It's a great day for me to get my first League goal, but the most important thing was the win. It was a great team performance so the day couldn't get any better."

The midfielder will next be in action at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium on Saturday when Oxford United are the visitors to Gloucestershire.

Kick-off is at 3pm and tickets are available to buy right now online and this week from the ticket office.
