Reaction: Duff on Charlton Athletic

12 September 2021

Michael Duff was delighted that his team learnt from errors last time out against MK Dons to capitalise and pick up a fantastic three points on the road at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

First half goals from Matty Blair and Taylor Perry set up a wonderful 2-1 win at The Valley - marking Cheltenham's first visit to the Addicks with three points.

Duff was happy with how his team ended the game to see out the victory after a dominant opening 45 minutes that saw Blair and Perry's strikes silence a large home crowd.

"The most pleasing aspect of today is the last 20 minutes," he said.

"Last week when we were winning the game, we just tossed the ball away. Eventually teams will break you down.

"We had a 15 minute spell when we were rocking when they scored, but then we wrestled the momentum back by still playing. We still passed the ball and it killed their momentum at that point.

"Every player that got on the pitch, the players that didn’t get on the pitch, the supporters – everyone was top drawer.

"I thought we were good value for the win and it was tighter than it should have been to be honest."
