Preview: Sercombe on Sunderland

27 September 2021

Liam Sercombe is urging his Cheltenham Town teammates to be in the faces of opponents Sunderland on Tuesday night at the Stadium of Light.

For the second time in four days Cheltenham take on one of League One's top two teams in another huge away fixture.

Following a disappointing showing at first place Wigan Athletic on Saturday, which resulted in a 2-0 defeat, Sunderland are up next and Sercombe is determined that they put on a better show in the north east than the weekend's outing at the DW Stadium.

"On Saturday against Wigan we probably respected them a little bit too much," he said.

"We've earned the respect to be in this league. We won the league. So we don't need to respect teams as much as we did.

"That's what we'll go into tomorrow's game and get right on the front foot and give it everything.

"We didn't do that on Saturday so that's what we're looking to do."

Tickets for the game were only available to buy in advance, so the next big thing is to purchase an iFollow match pass to watch the game, which is available online for £10.
