Reaction: Duff on Gillingham

6 November 2021

Following his team's 1-1 FA Cup first round draw at Gillingham, Michael Duff was left slightly disappointed his team didn't snatch a win at Priestfield.

Gerald Sithole's second half goal cancelled out a first half opener from Mattie Pollock, who scored his first goal for the club, which means the two teams will meet again in a replay next time out.

In what was already the second cup meeting between the two teams this season, Duff felt his team did more in the game to warrant more than a draw.

"We went 1-0 up and we stopped passing the ball. They equalised and we started passing the ball. Every time we made more than four passes we got in their backline, so we need to grow from that," he said.

"It's a difficult place to come, so a draw away at Gillingham probably shows how far we've come, and we're slightly disappointed within it.

"We had moments in the second half where we could have just picked a better ball.

"It was a scrappy game - the wind didn't help - so overall there is a tinge of frustration."

With no fixture next weekend due to the international break, our next action will be on Tuesday 16 November when we host Gillingham for the second leg.

Details regarding tickets and pricing for the match will be announced soon.
