Preview: Norton on Gillingham

16 November 2021

Christian Norton was delighted to get his first taste of FA Cup football last time out at Gillingham and is eager for more ahead of tonight's first round replay.

The young forward, on loan at the club from Championship side Stoke City until January, started last time out at Priestfield in a tie that ended all square at 1-1.

Praised for his performance that day by manager Michael Duff, the ex-Southampton youngster now wants to kick on from that showing in Kent and will be aiming to play his part once again at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium this evening.

"You try and take every game the same but the FA Cup is a cup I've never played in before. Growing up watching it on TV it always has that edge," he said.

"We know what to expect - they are very direct. We know what we have to do to combat that and I believe we can come away with the victory.

"It was great to get my first start against Gillingham last week. I want to kick on from here.

"I've had a couple near misses here and there but I've been working on finishing in training so I feel like when I have that chance I'll take it."
