Haynes on under-18s FA Youth Cup win

5 November 2021

Under-18s manager Pete Haynes praised his players for getting the job done when it came to their FA Youth Cup first round victory over North Leigh in midweek.

A brace from Zac Guinan and second half header from Will Armitage ensured progress into the second round of the competition.

It was a professional showing from the club's young scholars who are now waiting to see who they will take on in the second round.

"I'm very happy for the players, they stuck to the task, ultimately these cup games are all about winning the game and getting through to the next round so I'm very pleased with the players that they achieved that objective," he said.

"I thought the game was relatively competitive. North Leigh posed us some different problems we haven't necessarily come up against before.

"I thought the way they players dealt with that was to their credit. At the moments we needed to be clinical we were.

"There were areas of our game that could have been better but ultimately we're through to the next round and that's the most important thing."
