Reaction: May on Port Vale

7 March 2021

Despite a late scare Alfie May was delighted that Cheltenham Town could hold onto three points with a 3-2 win over Port Vale on Saturday.

Leading 3-0, Port Vale struck twice inside three minutes in the final stages of the game to launch an unlikely comeback at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

But Michael Duff's side managed to hold on, including for seven minutes of stoppage time, to make it four wins in a row in League Two.

May scored the games opening goal and feels he deserves the second despite it officially being given as an own goal against Vale and former Robins goalkeeper Scott Brown.

The ex-Doncaster Rovers forward revealed he had a conversation with Duff during the week to encourage him that the goals would start coming for him, so he was delighted to play his part in finding the net and helping his side to another victory.

There's another fixture to look forward to on Tuesday night. It's a trip to the One Call Stadium to face up to Mansfield Town.
