Carabao Cup & Papa John's Trophy draws to take place this week

The round one draws for both the Carabao Cup and Papa John’s Trophy will take place live on Sky Sports on Thursday.

For what is also fixture release day for the upcoming League One campaign, the club will also discover its opponents in this season's Carabao Cup and Papa John's Trophy.

League fixtures will be revealed on Thursday at 9am then later at 3.40pm the Carabao Cup draw will take place live on Sky Sports.

A total of 35 fixtures will be drawn for round one, which includes League debutants Sutton United, and the draw will be split into a northern and southern section.

Round one matches in the Carabao Cup will take place the week commencing 9 August.

Last season Cheltenham defeated Peterborough United in the first round to secure a second round trip to Championship outfit Millwall who progressed with a 3-1 win despite loanee Finn Azaz's first professional goal.

The Papa John's Trophy draw will also take place on Thursday live on Sky Sports at 4.30pm.

The competition will again take place in group formats with northern and southern sections.

There are 16 under-21 teams set to be involved in the competition: Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Leeds United, Leicester City, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Wolves

Last season the Robins progressed from the group stages of the Papa John's Trophy but exited the competition at the next stage with a home defeat to League One side Portsmouth.
