Reaction: Duff on Cinderford

11 July 2021

A winning start to pre-season and the chance to look at a new formation were all positives for Michael Duff from his team's victory at Cinderford Town.

An Andy Williams double and third from second year scholar Felix Miles earned a 3-0 win at the Causeway Stadium.

One half of the squad played 60 minutes with a second half getting 30 minutes and Duff was pleased with the overall efforts of all involved.

"I'm really pleased," he said. "Everyone came through it and there was some good football within it. We tried a new formation in the first half to have a look at and there were quite a few youth team players in there we had a look at as well.

"We could have scored a lot more but for the first day of pre-season the first thing is to get through the game.

"We're looking at different things, that's what pre-season is about. The lads know 3-5-2 like the back of their hand."

The Robins boss was also pleased with the contributions made by the scholars who were involved on the day featuring in both XIs.

"The lads who started the first half all started quite nervously which was understandable," he added.

"Felix grew into the game, Joe Hunt grew into the game, Josh (Aldridge) used the ball well.

"It's all new to them and they'll be leggy as well because they've been working hard."

The Robins are next in action at Evesham United on Tuesday evening. Kick-off is at 7.30pm.
