Reaction: Duff on Birmingham City

17 July 2021

Despite falling to defeat against Championship opposition Birmingham City, Michael Duff admitted he was pleased with his team's showing in their 3-0 defeat at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

The Robins boss felt his side were picked off in certain areas of the game they've yet to turn attention to on the training ground in the build up to the new season, viewing the match as a different test to the ones his side faced a few days ago against Evesham United and Cinderford Town.

Cheltenham were missing a number of players with Ben Tozer testing positive for covid-19 and Matty Blair forced to miss out having been in close contact with the club captain, while a non-covid related illness ruled out Andy Williams.

Duff also said they are working hard in the transfer market to bring in the type of player he wants to push the team forward in League One, having rejected a number of possible options that he could have added to his squad, while some trialists also featured against the Blues.

Attentions now turn to Tuesday's clash at Kidderminster Harriers where fans need to buy online for the game at Aggborough as there will be no turnstile sales on the night.
