Reaction: May on Manchester City

24 January 2021

Alfie May admits he has watched his goal back in Saturday's FA Cup fourth round tie with Manchester City on repeat since Cheltenham Town almost caused a major upset in front of the BBC One cameras.

His 59th minute strike put the Robins in front against one of the world's best teams, a lead that lasted until the 81st minute, as Michael Duff's men came so close to pulling off a giant killing that would have lived long in the memory.

Influential throughout the night, May admits it still hasn't sunk in a day later, and was full of praise for his teammates who stood up to the challenge brought by a Man City side who boasted some of the most talented players in the planet in the ranks, with two-times Champions League winner Pep Guardiola in the dugout.

He was pleased to see the game plan implemented on the night work, as the players kept City at bay, right up until the final ten minutes.

The next time Cheltenham take to the pitch is on Tuesday night for a 7pm kick-off against Oldham Athletic.
