Reaction: Thomas on Plymouth Argyle

27 December 2021

Conor Thomas says the Cheltenham Town squad will stick together after a disappointing result on Boxing Day against Plymouth Argyle.

A tight affair was settled by two breakaway goals in Plymouth's favour leaving Cheltenham with a defeat in the club's final home outing of 2021.

Thomas was back in the team after a recent injury problem kept him out of action, and he is keen for performances to turnaround positively again after a difficult month of December in an otherwise good campaign back in League One so far.

"There wasn't a lot in it. It was a tight game and we just fell the wrong side of it unfortunately to two counter-attacks. We didn't lock it off well enough so it's disappointing not to get anything out of the game to be honest," he said.

"We got into some good areas, especially second half we had a little bit of a spell, but we struggled with end product and that final bit of quality.

"We did get into some good areas and there wasn't a lot in the game and they fell the right side of it.

"It's important we stick together and stick to our principles. You don't become a bad team overnight and you don't become a good team overnight. We're in this league for a reason and we need to get back to or continue doing the things that got us here.

"It wasn't too long ago we were on a good run so we've got to stick together and come out the right side of it which we will."
