Reaction: Duff on Shrewsbury Town

18 December 2021

Michael Duff felt his team were unlucky to come out on the wrong side of fine margins in his team's 3-1 defeat at Shrewsbury Town.

Ten man Shrewsbury managed to hold firm with their one man disadvantage, and twice hit Duff's team on the counter-attack to claim victory, while Cheltenham themselves were denied by Marko Marosi's fine performance and the woodwork in the second half.

"We were good. First half, the keeper has made two world-class saves. We have had one off the line, so we could and probably should have been out of sight at half time," Duff said.

"Their lad gets sent off just before half time and the dynamic of the game changes and we couldn’t quite open them up.

"Sometimes you just fall the wrong side of the fine margins and that’s what I think it was today.

"We will keep working hard, keep trying, keep pushing and doing the things we are working on. We got credited last year for how good the defensive record was and we don’t do anything different. Sometimes things go against you and sometimes you have a bit of bad luck. We had a bit of both today."
