Preview: Milton on Plymouth Argyle

23 December 2021

Assistant manager Russell Milton is expecting a Plymouth Argyle side who will be strong in possession to visit the Jonny-Rocks Stadium on Sunday.

The West Country side are 5th in League One and are targeting a return to the second tier of English football.

It will be the first meeting between the two teams this season and assistant boss Milton knows all too well the quality that they have on offer for what's sure to be a competitive afternoon in the final home fixture of 2021 for the Robins.

"They are a really good side. We don't really pay attention to the a team's recent runs, we look at where they are in the League and they are doing well. Right from the start of the season they've been on a really good run," he said.

"Obviously Steve Schumacher has gone in and taken over from Ryan (Lowe) so I wouldn't expect much to change from them - they are a good football team. They like possession and like to move you about. It'll be a good test for us.

"It'll be a good crowd, Boxing Day game, traditional fixture, the boys won't need any incentive to go out and perform.

"We've had some good training sessions after the Shrewsbury game. It's all about being positive and the group going in the right direction, which they are."
