Preview: May on Plymouth Argyle

25 December 2021

Alfie May will be hoping to bring his goal scoring form this season into Cheltenham Town's festive fixtures.

The 28-year-old has ten goals to his name for the Robins this season and has enjoyed a prolific spell of late - registering five goals in his last six games.

He will be hoping to make another positive impact when Plymouth Argyle visit the Jonny-Rocks Stadium on Sunday for a 3pm kick-off and he's looking forward to the challenge the Devon side will bring up the M5 with them.

"Boxing Day is always a good fixture to play. The festive period is tough. Plymouth are a good team. The way they play and move the ball," he said.

"They've had a few fixtures where they should have won maybe.

"You get Christmas Day out of the way after your dinner and then you look forward to Boxing Day.

"I've been working hard. I'm here to put the ball in the back of the net so to get double figures before Christmas is nice.

"I've hit my target for what I wanted for my personal goal, but now it's keep working hard and keep going.

"The competition for shirts is brilliant here. Anyone can be on the pitch. I was on the bench for a bit and when I came on it was so important for me to do something for the team and to change the game."
